Rib Crib Breaks Ground in Topeka, KS

Ground was broken Wednesday for a Rib Crib Barbecue and Grill restaurant at 1320 S.W. Ashworth Place.

Bold Ribs Co. LLC, plans to build 4,500-square-foot restaurant with wood frame construction, composition siding, and a standing seam roof.

Originating 14 years ago in Tulsa, OK, Rib Crib now has more than 45 family-oriented restaurants across the midwest and southwest.

Bold Ribs Co. LLC, of Springfield, MO, operates Rib Cribs in southwest Missouri and northwest Arkansas, and has been approved for five areas in northeast Kansas.

Rib Crib's menu offers extensive traditional barbecue fare, along with an array of appetizers, salads and homemade desserts. The dry-rubbed, hickory-smoked meats are continuously slow-cooked and cut to order. All Rib Crib restaurants use state-of-the-art rotisserie, heat-controlled, hickory-burning smokers.

Rib Crib also sells fire-grilled burgers, which are a one-half pound of premium Black Angus beef cooked on an open-fire grill that seals in juices.

"We are ecstatic about bringing Rib Crib Barbecue to Topeka," said Bob Luke, co-owner and vice president of operations for Bold Ribs. "Our western-theme building and décor, signature-smoked meats and friendly table service are ideally suited for Topeka's family market."

The restaurant is scheduled to open in November of this year.
